Shimano-Campag cassette conversion kitsThese kits of spacers convert off-the-shelf cassettes to work with different gears. For example, you may have a Campag 8sp hub but want to use Shimano 9sp gears - in this case you should respace a Campag cassette with a Pulse Cassette Spacer Kit. Click here to find out more about cassettes, including how many sprockets you can fit on different hubs with different gears. You will need to separate your sprockets first:
You can discard the clips, bolts or rivets as they will not be used again. Replace your sprockets and the new spacers onto your hub, one at a time. Finally do up the lockring to hold everything tight (if you have a torque-wrench, set it to 40 Nm). Note: the smallest sprocket has a built-in spacer which can't be changed. This doesn't matter since you can fine-tune the indexing on this sprocket by adjusting the limit screw on your rear deraillkeur.
Mixing sprockets from different cassettesOne way to achieve your ideal cassette is to break down cassettes and mix the sprockets. But keep things simple and don't mix sprockets unless they are all the same thickness - this usually means they should come from the same manufacturer. You should only mix different types of sprocket if you really know what you're doing. Keep them together as groups at either end of your cassette. For example, S-S-S-S-P-P-P is ok but S-S-S-P-P-S-S is not (where S is a Shimano sprocket and P is a Plural sprocket). If you mix sprocket types then you must use 2 sets of spacers, one for each type, distributed appropriately (you can use either spacer between the two groups). There's more information about individual Marchisio Plural sprockets and spacers here. Please don't ask me to work out what you need - if you don't understand it then DON'T DO IT!
Custom spacersI can machine individual custom spacers for you. Just tell me what thickness you need.
Packing spacersAfter you've rearranged your sprockets, you may find that your lockring no longer tightens everything as it should.
A Cassette Spacers Kit includes 2 thin packing spacers which may be used to take up small amounts of slack. These may or may not be necessary and are not guaranteeded to be adequate in all situations. One of your old spacers can be used if the gap is very large, or you could use a Packing Spacer Kit instead... A Pulse Packing Spacer Kit contains a selection of spacers, allowing gaps between 0.5 and 5.5mm to be filled. Combine them as appropriate to take up slack at the back of a 'cassette'.
Prices and How to select the right kitUse the table below to tell me what gears and sprockets you use. For example, if you have a Campag 8 sp lever and rear mech, select 'Campag 8sp' from the 'gears' menu. Note: If you prefer, select the last 'sprocket' option and send me a sprocket from the middle of your cassette - I will measure it for you and return it with your Spacer Kit.
